This wonderful and mysterious river takes its source under the Risnjak in the Croatia and then flows at he south of our country as a border-line river. From the village Osilnica downstream it is full of attractive rapids and pocket water, from the village Dolenja Žaga it makes a fascinating canyon which is 400 m deep. Kolpa is mostly inhabited by brown trouts and graylings but in the lower part you may find some trophy huchos also.

River is divided in three interesting flyfishing parts, managed by two slovenian and one croatian organization. [1] Fishing club of Kočevje manages with Kolpa river from the confluence with Čabranka river near Osilnica to the dam in Slavski laz, from there to the dam in Dol the river is managed by the [2] State´s Fisheries Institute. At the Croatian side of the border, Kolpa is managed by the [3] ŠRU Goran- Brod na Kupi.

Kolpa´s pure beauty in this part enchants every single visitor at its banks. Water is full of rapids and pools, which are ideal hiding place for wonderful genuine brown trouts.

Great flyfishing places extend from the confluence with Čabranka river near Osilnica, to the lower dam in the village Kavrani.
