Paul, and we are so happy that you´ve joined us at this website too In Slovenia you will really have many possibilities to experience flyfishing at our waters. Kamniska Bistrica river would be the best choice if you will be staying in Kamnik. It is extremely nice alpine river which flows through Kamnik and is fishable upstream and downstream from there. It is full of nice graylings and brownies and the water is really divine (especially above Kamnik! ). Daily flyfishing permit costs around 15 EUR and is sold in the nearby inns or bars. River itself is managed by the Fishing Club "Bistrica" Domzale. I think they organize some flyfishing and fly-tying meetings but I am not sure about that. I hope someone here knows more about it... Near Ljubljana, you will also find nice flyfishing rivers like Iscica (10 min by car from the Ljubljana road ring to the East- Barje Region, direction "Ig"), Ljubljanica (flyfishing parts are a little upstream from Ljubljana towards Vrhnika- aprox. 20 min by car, direction South), Krka river (splendid flyfishing river, aprox. 30 min from Ljubljana towards Ivancna gorica -> Muljava -> Krka village, direction ENE). So that´s it for now. When you will be in Ljubljana or Kamnik, stay "connected" to this website , so you will be able to arrange a flyfishing trip or two with some of our members. I am sure that some of them would be glad to take you to the river Will you bring your own tackle to Slovenia? I hope this information helps. If you need any further info please feel free to write your questions down and we will try to answer you ASAP Tight lines and "dobrodosel v Sloveniji" (eng. welcome to Slovenia) Lucky [ Edited Tuesday 30 January 2007 - 21:18:32 ] |
