Hey, i fished in slovenia a couple of months ago and had the best holiday ever. I didnt really caught a lot of fish since i did a lot of exploring but i did caught some nice rainbows near the bridge by Kamno en a hybrid aswell. I just wonder where are all these nice places i see on pictures on this forum, what are the most beautifull and fishable places to go when i return next year. Because i see pictures with a spot where you can almost see 20 fishes, i didnt get to find those. Any tips?

Hey Eelke!

Nice hearing from you I am very glad that you had such a nice fly fishing holidays in Slovenia! Well, places from the photos were also taken at the places where you fished, maybe a few km upstream and downstream- there are some really nice stretches of water which are extremely tempting And not only Soca river, you should try Baca, Idrijca, Tolminka, Trebuscica too... They hide tremendous places, which are easily described as a fly fishing paradise, so I am sure that you would enjoy fishing there Actually you may find fish everywhere- and nice fishing spots are virtually every few meters, so you will easily find them while wading down or upstream...

Please let us know before your next fly fishing expedition in Slovenia starts!

Tight lines,
Lucky

Hey, the problem we had was the finding of good places where you can get in the river. It was very difficult to park somewhere and get into the water. We did have some good fishing off course, with nice people helping us with licenses etc. What is the best time to come next year, early in the year or in august/september?

Hey Eelke,,,

Yes, you are right- at the Soca rivers it is not always easy to find places, where you may fish just below the car parking place- you must usually walk a little to get to the river. But I have never had any problems with this at the Idrijca, Baca or other rivers, managed by the Tolmin Fishing Club. But even at the Soca river there are some nice parking places just beside the road- you leave car there and walk few steps to reach the river...

The best time to get to Slovenia for fly fishing would be May, June, July (if it is not too hot) and September. Sometimes you may enjoy a lot in October too, but this depends on the quantity of precipitation...

Tight lines,
Lucky

Hey,

yeah the problem this year was that i had a license for 3 days and it was the first time in slovenia, so we had to explore a lot. I did fish in de baca and soca rivers. The baca was a bit low but i did see some fish, but they weren't interested at all. In the Soca we fished a lot near the bridge at Kamno because it was easy to get in the water and we caught some very nice big rainbows over there. I just wished i would have caught a grayling, since i have never caught that fish before.
